“O Tempo como Verbo” (Time as a Verb) is a project created with the commitment to bring contemporary art to all audiences safely in complex times.
In 2020, the world was faced with the need to dive into more intense virtual experiences to deal with life while adapting to a pandemic world. In art, it was no different: the project “O Tempo como Verbo” innovates by using Metaverse, that is, to integrate different virtual spaces with the real, using augmented reality, social media and physical objects. It is a web that aims to create forms of relationship between people and art content.
The project consists of eight cultural products that have time as a guiding element, curated by Laura Cattani in partnership with Munir Klamt. They are:
It is an innovative proposal for using augmented reality filters on Instagram so that each person can virtually install, in their home or wherever they are, up to five different works by the artists Túlio Pinto, Ío, Bruno Borne and André Severo.
The End of the Present is a bipartite book that unites a reflective catalog about the project “O Tempo como Verbo” and an experimental project, in which the literary curator Vitor Diel invited seven writers from Rio Grande do Sul to create stories inspired by the works of the virtual exhibition: Atena Beauvoir, Davi Koteck, Jeferson Tenório, José Falero, Juliana Maffeis, Mariam Pessah and Taiasmin Ohnmacht.
Three artists go through a period of immersive creative process, respectively, on a rural property in Serra Gaúcha. Letícia Lopes, Anderson Astor, Ricardo de Carli stay, for a week each, in a house with a studio, surrounded by native forest, being able to dedicate to their poetics.
It is an album with seven new tracks created by Caio Amon for the soundtrack of the series Trindade do Tempo (Trinity of Time), in which he aims to highlight the multiple faces of time.
The works of the exhibition Tempo como Verbo will be donated, in digital format, to Rio Grande do Sul Museum of Art (MARGS), contributing to the enrichment of the public collection and to the valorization of artistic production. The seven documentary videos Trindade do Tempo and the book O Fim do Presente (The end of the Present) will also be donated.
The educational project Áster aims to present the exhibition Tempo com Verbo in an accessible and thought-provoking way, with texts about the works in accessible language and proposals for interactive activities, online lectures and a booklet. It is coordinated by the art educator Diogo Mickken (FURG).
In Coalescer, four young artists and two researchers are invited to share a multifaceted vision of time through images and texts: Dani Barbosa, Felipe Dias Diaz, Julha Franz, Marina Roncatto, Oendu de Mendonça and Pamela Zorn. It is coordinated by Gabriela Paludo Sulczinski.
