Arquipélago_2020 was a profile created on Instagram by artists and contemporary art theorists to be a space for experimentation and reflection on art and creative processes. Starting from the challenge of promoting artistic creation and its dissemination during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the experience of the Arquipélago_2020 project allows us to think about strategies for democratizing access to culture and raising awareness of contemporary art through digital platforms, as well as ways of instigating interactions between artists and researchers.
At the beginning of the pandemic period with the specific intention of being a contemporary of it, not its interpreter, conditions such as isolation, fear of contagion, health and political instability, and the emotional consequences resulting from these were taken into account. But these adversities, more than the theme of the content produced, were understood as vectors to reflect on the creative process.
The name Archipelago_2020 came as a metaphor to reflect on the emotional state at the beginning of the pandemic, a term that indicated the feeling of being isolated, isolated. Thus, these distant and communicating island beings (through telematic networks) formed a group: an archipelago. Given the constitution of this identity, other developments assumed the concept of understanding the user as a navigator, who was guided on his journey to other geographical features.
