CONSTITUITION OF THE COLLECTION

DONATION TO MARGS

An axial aspect that was considered in the creation of “O Tempo Como Verbo” is the possibility of transforming cultural projects, notably those carried out with public investment, not into episodic and ephemeral events, but rather into proposals that have a positive and lasting impact on society With this objective in mind, the project included part of the works that make up the virtual exhibition “Tempo Como Verbo”, written by artists Bruno Borne, André Severo, Ío, Dirnei Prates, Túlio Pinto, Virgínia Di Lauro and Andressa. Cantergiani, curated by Laura Cattani and Munir Klamt, were donated to the MARGS collection.

It is important to highlight that these works were all donated in digital format, thus considering the economy of preservation and multiple presentation possibilities. This donation is part of a proposal to build a cultural policy to value artists from Rio Grande do Sul (and/or residents of RS) and is intended to be the basis for a larger project, which brings artists from RS closer to public collections from the rest of the country, helping to give visibility and integration to our contemporary artistic production.

Finally, it is important to highlight that MARGS is understood not only as a physical place, but an agent of temporalities, protagonist of the preservation and valorization of a set of works, and above all of forms of thought, impulses of multiple strata of time. “Time as a Word” wishes to preserve poetics representative of Gaucho culture (many of which were not yet covered by MARGS), as well as adding new forms of recombination to its collection, thinking of it as something alive and always under construction.
