ABOUT THE PROJECT:

“Time as a Verb” is a project created with the commitment to bringing contemporary art to all audiences in a safe way in complex times.

In 2020, the world was faced with the need to dive into more intense virtual experiences to cope with life while adapting to a pandemic world. In art, it was no different: the project “Time as a Verb” innovates by using the Metaverse, that is, integrating different virtual spaces with the real, with the use of augmented reality, social networks and physical objects. A web that aims to create forms of relationship between people and art content.

The project is made up of eight cultural products that have time as a guiding element, curated by Laura Cattani in partnership with Munir Klamt. This project is linked to the research project “Intimate Obscurity of Time” by Munir Klamt (IA/UFRGS) and Laura Cattani’s post-doctoral research carried out at UnB. Are they:

Time As a Verb – Virtual Exhibition

In the immersive virtual gallery, the public can check out works, such as photographs, videos and performances that bring reflections on the multifaceted dimensions of time, by seven artists: Túlio Pinto, Dirnei Prates, Ío, Andressa Cantergiani, Bruno Borne, André Severo and Virgínia di Laura.

Tempus Fugit – Home Gallery

Innovative proposal to use Augmented reality filters on Instagram so that each person can virtually install, in their home or wherever they are, up to five different works by artists Túlio Pinto, Ío, Bruno Borne and André Severo.

The End of the Present / Time As a Verb – Catalogue and tales

This publication is a two-part book, organized by Laura Cattani and Munir Klamt. Time as a Verb is a reflective catalog about the virtual exhibition, with images of the works and texts of Laura Cattani, Munir Klamt and Juliana Proenço. Fim do Presente is an experimental project, in which literary curator Vitor Diel invited seven writers from Rio Grande do Sul to create short stories inspired by the works in the virtual exhibition: Atena Beauvoir, Davi Koteck, Jeferson Tenório, José Falero, Juliana Maffeis, Mariam Pessah and Taiasmin Ohmacht.

Torus Residency – Three immersive artistic recidencies

Three artists go through a period of immersive creative process, respectively, on a rural property in Serra Gaúcha. Letícia Lopes, Anderson Astor, Ricardo de Carli stay, for a week each, in a house with a studio, surrounded by native forest, being able to dedicate themselves to their poetics.

Sete Infinitudes – Music album

“Sete Infinitudes” is a musical album that emerged as a soundtrack for the exhibition “Tempo como Verbo”, developed by Caio Amon and Ío as another way of thinking about the works. Throughout the production process, a “sound archeology” was created through music, visiting abandoned sound places that, upon the arrival of the listener, awaken and relive part of their past.

Constitution of the collection – donation to MARGS

The works in the exhibition, “Time as a Word” will be donated, in digital format, to the Rio Grande do Sul Art Museum (MARGS), contributing to the enrichment of the public collection and the appreciation of artistic production. The book “The End of the Present” will also be donated.

Áster – Educational Project

The Áster educational project aims to present the exhibition “Tempo com Verbo” in an accessible and thought-provoking way, with texts about the works in accessible language and proposals for interactive activities, online lectures and a booklet. Coordinated by art educator Diogo Mickken (FURG).

Coalescer – content creation and reflections

In Coalescer, four young artists and two researchers are invited to share a multifaceted vision of time through images and texts: Dani Barbosa, Felipe Dias Diaz, Julha Franz, Marina Roncatto, Oendu de Mendonça and Pamela Zorn. Coordinated by Gabriela Paludo Sulczinski.
